CHARACTERISTICS OF GRANITE

Granite is a popular choice for countertops and showers in Tucson homes and businesses due to its durability and natural beauty. This versatile stone is highly resistant to abrasion, staining, and etching caused by acidic substances commonly found in food and drink, making it an ideal material for high-use areas. Our professional granite cleaning, restoration, and refinishing services ensure your surfaces maintain their stunning appearance and functionality.

Granite is an igneous rock formed through the cooling and solidification of magma beneath the earth’s surface, which gives it remarkable strength and resilience—second only to diamond. Composed of minerals like feldspar and quartz, granite features brilliant colors and intricate decorative patterns that make it a sought-after material for both residential and commercial spaces.

Quarried from locations around the world, granite is cut into blocks and slabs before being polished and shipped to local distributors. Over time, even this durable stone can lose its luster due to buildup, scratches, or wear. Our Tucson granite cleaning and restoration services are designed to remove dirt and imperfections, bringing back its natural shine. Whether you need deep cleaning, restoration, or refinishing, our experts use advanced techniques and high-quality products to protect and rejuvenate your granite surfaces.

TUCSON GRANITE CLEANING PROFESSIONALS

Our process for cleaning granite consists of using machinery and equipment, as well as hand washing the corners and edges. We use a combination of neutral pH cleaners and degreasers that are safe for your stone, your family and the environment.

Arizona Tile and Grout Care ensures the most thorough and detailed cleaning possible. Improper or aggressive cleaning can cause damage by opening the pores of the stone, making it more susceptible to staining from food, drink and spills. Our 18+ years of experience with granite and knowledge of the stone itself will avoid these issues.

We pay close attention to detail to ensure there is no dust or no mess created. We are extremely careful not to cause any damage to adjacent surfaces such as backsplashes, cabinets, and appliances.

OUR GRANITE SEALING PROCESS

Sealing granite after a professional cleaning helps prevent staining and makes routine cleanings easier. Our process begins by applying a high quality penetrating sealant. Using a orbital buffer and pad attachment, we work the seal into the pores of the stone and finish the process by buffing out the seal .

There are several types of sealants on the market but some are not designed for granite. For example, due to poor adhesion, topical seals are not designed for this stone and will eventually peel and delaminate, leaving the granite looking poor. When we find this type of sealant on granite, we must remove it very carefully in order to restore the stone’s finish.

If you are not sure what type of sealant is on your granite, call Arizona Tile & Grout Care Inc. at 520-909-1413 for a free evaluation and estimate.

HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR GRANITE

Using appropriate cleaners and fresh water, granite can be well maintained. Professional cleaning and sealing is recommended every 5-7 years, depending on usage. When properly maintained and cared for, this stone will stay beautiful and functional for generations.
